About Me

My name is Jacqui Buchanan I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor, I deliver both humanistic integrative and cognitive behavioural therapies.  I am a member of the BACP and currently work as a counsellor within a prison setting.

Before making the decision to train as a counsellor my career has involved 15 years experience of working in the field of addiction and criminal justice services, this took me through the ranks of front line practitioner to senior manager.  I have worked in many diverse community and prison settings in both Scotland and England.

Over the years I have had the privilege of engaging and working with young people, adults and their families, this provided me with a wealth of knowledge on individuals life experiences and how they can have a direct impact on the onset of common mental health problems and highly challenging complex issues.

My own work and life experience has allowed me to develop my interpersonal and communication skills, these skills have helped me forge robust professional and respectful relationships. This approach has been adopted into my own private practice and allows me to provide a service which works with you, supporting you to identify and understand yourself, your specific problems, your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

I believe we all have the ability to change and we just need a little help to take us there.
